Configuring WIAT-III Reports

F   For WIAT-III, there are three reports available: the WIAT-III Score Report, the WIAT-III Parent Report, and the WIAT-III Growth Scale Value Charts.

WIAT-III Score Report

This table lists all of the WIAT–III Score Report options.

Field Name

Description

Tables and Graphs Except for the Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Model, checkboxes are checked by default, unless the criteria was set previously and run on a prior report. In this case, settings for the previous report are returned.

Selecting Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Model or Subtest Standard Score Differences will provide additional Report fields that are specific to these tables and graphs.
Additional Scores If selected, the generated reports will include growth scores.
Norms When running a Score Report, the Norms data is selected automatically by Age if the examinee age is greater than 20. If the examinee is 19:11 or younger, the Grade Based Norms data is available for selection.
Significance Levels Radio buttons, are set to the first available selection of each item by default. However, if the criteria was set and run on a previous report, the settings from the previous report are returned.
  • Confidence Intervals - Used to determine the reliability of the estimate. Increasing the desired confidence level will widen the confidence interval.
  • Subtest Level Differences - Differences between subtest standard scores (i.e., subtract the standard score for one subtest from the standard score for another subtest, the difference between them is a subtest level difference).
  • Composite Level Differences - Differences between composite standard scores (i.e., subtract the standard score for one composite from the standard score for another composite, the difference between them is a composite level difference).
  • Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Discrepancy - The pattern of differences between a student’s Processing Strength (generally the student’s highest index score on an ability test) and his/her Processing Weakness (generally the student’s lowest index score on an ability test) and between a student’s Processing Strength and his/her Achievement Weakness (this can be any WIAT-III score, usually it will be a standard score below 85. It can be at the subtest level or at the composite level). The pattern is important because both of these differences must be significant for the student to fit the profile of a student with a learning disability

Subtest Standard Score Differences

If the Subtest Standard Score Differences option is selected from the Score Report options, the Subtest Standard Score Differences field will display in the Report Configuration window..

To use this screen, choose a subtest from the Subtest 1 list with a corresponding subtest from the Subtest 2 list. When selections for comparison are made, click the Add button to add the Paired Comparison to the grid. To remove a specific paired comparison from the grid, check the box next to the row, and click the Remove button. To clear all paired comparison selections, click the Clear All button.

Clicking the Generate Report button will display the specified WIAT-III report. Within the WIAT-III report the Differences Between Subtest Standard Scores table will display the selected subtest comparisons.

Please reference the WIAT-III Examiner Manual for further information about the information in this table.

Ability-Achievement Discrepancy (AAD) Analysis & the Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses (PSW) Model

The WIAT-III Ability-Achievement Discrepancy Analysis table can be created with the following assessments: WAIS-IV, WISC-V, WISC-V Integrated, WPPSI-IV

NOTE: When combining WIAT-III with WISC-V and WISC-V Integrated records, the Ability Test dropdown will provide the choice of either WISC-V or WISC-V Integrated.

The WIAT-III Pattern of Strength and Weaknesses Model can be created with the following assessments: DAS-II, KABC-II, KABC-II NU, WAIS-IV, WISC-IV, WISC-V, WISC-V and WISC-V Integrated, WPPSI-III, WPPSI-IV.

NOTE: PSW is not available when pairing WIAT-III with a WISC-V Integrated record (only AAD is available with this combination).

Manual Mode

If only the WIAT-III assessment is chosen from the Examinee Details page, report generation will run in manual mode. In this mode, values must be manually entered into the AAD and PSW sections of the Report Configuration screen to receive the Ability-Achievement Discrepancy Analysis table and the Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Model in the report.

Note: If the KABC-II was administered prior to March 25, 2018, the KABC-II should be selected from the Ability test options. If the KABC-II was administered on or after March 25, 2018, then choose the KABC-II NU from the Ability test options.

Automatic Mode

The following ability assessments are available in automatic mode: WISC-V, WISC-V and WISC-V Integrated, WAIS-IV, and WPPSI-IV. Note: If the user selects a WIAT-III and only a WISC-V Integrated, this is a valid combination for AAD, but PSW will be disabled.

If the WIAT-III assessment is selected in combination with an ability assessment, report generation will run in automatic mode. Automatic mode pulls in drop-down values and will also populate fields into the AAD and PSW sections of the Report Configuration screen. The exception to this is when both WISC-V and WISC-V Integrated records are chosen at report generation time in which case, the Ability Test dropdown will provide the option to select either WISC-V or WISC-V Integrated before fields are populated with the appropriate values.

WIAT-III Growth Scale Value Charts

The Growth Scale Value Chart is only available for examinees aged 4:0 - 19:11. Assessments are displayed in descending order by Assessment Date. If the selected examinee's assessment is for an adult (20:00 - 50:11 years), no assessments will be displayed. The Growth Scale Value Charts contain:
