For WIAT-III Canadian, there are three reports available: the WIAT-III Canadian Score Report, the WIAT-III Canadian Parent Report, and the WIAT-III Canadian Growth Scale Value Charts.
This table lists all of the WIAT-III Canadian Score Report options.
Field Name |
Description |
---|---|
Tables and Graphs |
Except for the Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Model, checkboxes are checked by default, unless the criteria was set previously and run on a prior report. In this case, settings for the previous report are returned.
Selecting Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Model or Subtest Standard Score Differences will provide additional Report fields that are specific to these tables and graphs. |
Additional Scores |
If selected, the generated reports will include growth scores. |
Norms |
When running a Score Report, the Norms data is selected automatically by Age if the examinee age is greater than 20. If the examinee is 19:11 or younger, the Grade Based Norms data is available for selection. |
Significance Levels |
Radio buttons, are set to the first available selection of each item by default. However, if the criteria was set and run on a previous report, the settings from the previous report are returned.

If the Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses (PSW) Model is selected in the Tables and Graphs section, the PSW options window is displayed. The PSW options screen appears after the Report Wizard because the software must calculate the scores before the PSW options can be derived. The PSW Model is appended to the end of the score report.
All fields in the PSW window are required and are validated upon clicking Generate Report. If any fields are invalid, a red X will appear next to the field, and the field will not be revalidated until Generate Report is clicked again (the red X won't go away just by changing the field value, the form only rechecks the values upon clicking Generate Report). If no scores exist for any strength or weakness fields, the report will be forced to cancel.
Because the WIAT-III Canadian assessment is selected in combination with another assessment i.e. WPPSI-IV, the PSW window will run in automatic mode.
Manual Mode
If only a WIAT-III Canadian assessment is chosen from the Report Wizard, the PSW will run in manual mode. Manual mode expects values to be entered for each field on the window. Under the achievement section, the Weakness field will need to be selected. Under the Ability section, all of the fields will need to be entered.
NOTE: Ensure that the examinee's testing age is accurate when entering ability scores without integrated products (e.g. WISC-IV, WAIS-IV, WPPSI-III, WPPSI-IV).
Automatic Mode
If a WIAT-III Canadian assessment is selected in combination with another assessment type, the PSW window will run in automatic mode. Automatic mode pulls in drop-down values and will also populate fields based on the selections made. Selections will only need to be made for the Achievement Weakness and Ability Strength and Weakness fields in this scenario.
NOTE: Entries made on the PSW window will never be saved. Selections must be made each time the PSW model is requested for the report.
Once an index has been chosen as a strength or weakness, it is not available for the other (e.g., If VCI is chosen as a strength under WAIS-IV, VCI will not be available to be chosen as a weakness.
Strength
There are situations when an index may not be acceptable for a strength. In this situation a yellow icon will display to the left of the Strength combo box. When highlighted a dynamic message will display stating:
[INDEX] may not be accepted as a processing strength within the PSW model in all settings.
WPPSI-IV - WMI, PSI
WISC-IV - WMI, PSI
WAIS-IV - WMI, PSI
DAS-II - Working Memory, Processing Speed
Weakness
If the score is 86 or higher, a yellow icon will appear. When highlighted, a tooltip will appear stating, "Use of a score above 85 as a weakness may not be accepted in all settings."
If the Subtest Standard Score Differences option is selected from the Score Report options, the Subtest Standard Score Differences field will display in the Report Configuration window..
To use this screen, choose a subtest from the Subtest 1 list with a corresponding subtest from the Subtest 2 list. When selections for comparison are made, click the Add button to add the Paired Comparison to the grid. To remove a specific paired comparison from the grid, check the box next to the row, and click the Remove button. To clear all paired comparison selections, click the Clear All button.
Clicking the Generate Report button will display the specified WIAT-III Canadian report. Within the WIAT-III Canadian report the Differences Between Subtest Standard Scores table will display the selected subtest comparisons.
Please reference the WIAT-III Canadian Examiner Manual for further information about the information in this table.
The Significance Level is the statistical significance of score differences. It is the mathematical difference between designated index/subtest scores. The Ability-Achievement Discrepancy radio buttons will only be enabled when both the AAD compatible assessment and WIAT-III Canadian assessment are selected in the report window.
The Parent Report contains:
The Growth Scale Value Chart is only available for examinees aged 4:0 - 19:11. Assessments are displayed in descending order by Assessment Date. If the selected examinee's assessment is for an adult (20:00 - 50:11 years), no assessments will be displayed. The Growth Scale Value Charts contain:
