Entering CELF-5 Metalinguistics Scores

The CELF-5 Metalinguistics is the newest addition to the CELF-5 family of assessments. For students ages 9:0 to 21:11, CELF-5 Metalinguistics enables clinicians to assess higher-level language skills that are embedded in upper-grade curricula and are critical to classroom success.

 

The CELF-5 Metalinguistics has two tabs: Demographics and Scores.

 

 

Demographics Tab

Field Name

Description

Grade The examinee’s grade.
School The examinee’s school.
Address (Line 1) Line 1 of the examinee’s address.
Address (Line 2) Line 2 of the examinee’s address.
Teacher’s Name The name of the examinee’s teacher.
Comments This field allows the examiner to enter comments regarding the Assessment or the Examinee. These comments are displayed in the report.

 

 

Scores Tab

For the CELF-5 Metalinguistics, raw scores or item scores can be entered for each subtest. Item scores must be entered to receive item analysis information.

Metalinguistics Profile (MP)

30 to 120

The Metalinguistics Profile test has 30 items. The following values are accepted as responses:
1 = Never or Almost Never   
2 = Sometimes   
3 = Often   
4 = Always or Almost Always
Making Inferences (MI)

0  to 36

The Making Inferences test includes 12 items; there are two parts to each item. The first part is multiple choice with five response options. The second is open-ended and the user determines the score.
 
The response alternatives for part 2 of the Making Inferences test items are 0, 1 or 2. These are point scores determined by the examiner based on the examinee’s responses.
Conversation Skills (CS)

0 to 34

The Conversation Skills test has 17 items. A response of 0, 1, or 2 is acceptable. These are point scores determined by the examiner based on the examinee’s responses.
Multiple Meanings (MM)

0 to 30

The Multiple Meanings test has 15 items. A response of 0, 1, or 2 is acceptable. These are point scores determined by the examiner based on the examinee’s responses.
 
The start point for examinees age 13-21 is item 4. Apply reversal rules as necessary.
Figurative Language (FL)

0 to 51

The Figurative Language test includes 17 items; there are two parts to each item.
 
The first part is open-ended and the user determines the score. The second is multiple choice with five response options.
 
The response alternatives for part 1 of the Figurative Language test items are 0 or 2. These are point scores determined by the examiner based on the examinee’s responses.

 

 

Age Validation

The recommended age for the CELF–5 Metalinguistics is 9:0–21:11. If the CELF-5 Metalinguistics is administered to an examinee outside of these age ranges, invalid reports may be generated.
