Entering BMAT Scores

The BMAT™ is an individually administered, standardized test of gross and fine motor skills for adults ages 40 and older. It is an adult adaptation of the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Second Edition (BOT–2; Bruininks & Bruininks, 2005), which is widely used with individuals ages 4–21. The BMAT is designed to help professionals in occupational and physical therapies, nursing, human

performance, physical rehabilitation, and related disciplines. It assesses an adult’s motor abilities related to improvement in physical functioning and/or requirements for activities of daily living (ADLs), and it can help to guide treatment, set treatment goals,

and monitor progress toward those goals.

 

The 32 BMAT test items consist of a combination of motor tasks taken directly from the BOT–2, tasks adapted from the BOT–2, and newly developed tasks. All items were

Description

Preferred Drawing Hand The examinee’s hand (right or left) most preferred for drawing activities.
Preferred Throwing Hand/Arm The examinee’s hand/arm (right or left) most preferred for throwing activities.
Preferred Foot/Leg The examinee’s foot/leg (right or left) most preferred for physical activities.
Background and Behavioral Observations:
Are there any considerations that may affect the accuracy of these scores? Allows the examiner to describe any considerations that may affect the accuracy of the scores. (500 characters)
Were accommodations made for physical impairments? Allows the examiner to describe any accommodations made during testing due to physical impairments. (500 characters)
Rate the examinee's performance in the following categories:
Attention Reflects the examinee’s level of attention to the tasks that he/she was asked to complete. (Poor, Marginal, Good, or Excellent)
Fluidity of Movement Reflects the examinee’s fluidity of movement while performing tasks that he/she was asked to complete. (Poor, Marginal, Good, or Excellent)
Effort Reflects the examinee’s level of effort while performing the tasks that he/she was asked to complete. (Poor, Marginal, Good, or Excellent)
Understanding Reflects the examinee’s level of understanding of the tasks that he/she was asked to complete. (Poor, Marginal, Good, or Excellent)

 

 

Raw Scores tab

Scores can be entered using the Item Raw Score (IRS) or the Total Point Score (TPS).

NOTE: Values in parentheses represent raw score ranges. For activities that accept a raw score range from 1.0 to 999.9, scores can be entered in intervals of 0.1. The lowest acceptable item raw score is 1.0.
