The BOT-3 is an individually administered assessment that uses engaging, goal-directed activities to measure a wide array of fine and gross motor skills in individuals ages 4 years 0 months through 25 years 11 months (4:0-25:11).
For BOT-3 on Q-global, there is an Overview tab, a Subtests tab, and a Supplemental tab. Refer to the sections below for additional details about the Overview, Subtests, and Supplemental tabs.
The Overview tab includes an Administration Settings section and an Assessment Demographics section and includes the fields as listed below.
The Administration Settings section contains general administration information.
The Assessment Demographics section primarily captures optional demographics details.

Are there any considerations that may affect the accuracy of these scores? |
Allows the examiner to comment about any considerations that may affect the accuracy of scores at the time of the assessment administration. |
Were accommodations made for physical impairments? |
Allows the examiner to comment about any accommodations made at the time of the assessment administration. |
Rate the examinee's performance in the following categories |
Allows the examiner to rate the examinee’s attention, fluidity of movement, effort, and understanding at the time of the assessment administration. |

Allows the examiner to provide additional comments. |
The Subtests tab allows total point score (raw score) or item raw score entry for up to 8 subtests.
Subtest |
Total point score range |
Description |
Subtest 1: Fine Motor Precision |
0-38 |
The Fine Motor Precision (FMP) subtest includes untimed activities that require precise control of finger and hand movement. |
Subtest 2: Fine Motor Integration | 0-39 |
The Fine Motor Integration (FMI) subtest requires the examinee to reproduce drawings of various geometric shapes of increasing complexity. |
Subtest 3: Manual Dexterity |
0-56 |
The Manual Dexterity (MD) subtest uses timed, goal-directed activities that involve reaching, grasping, and bimanual coordination with small objects. |
Subtest 4: Upper-Limb Coordination |
0-44 |
The Upper-Limb Coordination (ULC) subtest consists of untimed activities designed to measure visual tracking with coordinated arm and hand movement, such as catching, dribbling, and throwing a ball. |
Subtest 5: Bilateral Coordination |
0-32 |
The Bilateral Coordination (BC) subtest contains tasks requiring body control and sequential and simultaneous coordination of the upper and lower limbs. |
Subtest 6: Balance and Advanced Balance (optional) |
Balance: 0-42 Advanced Balance: 0-25 |
The Balance (BA) subtest evaluates fundamental balance skills that are integral for maintaining posture when standing or walking. The optional Advanced Balance items use the balance beam (not included in the BOT-3 kit but available as a separate purchase) and provide an Extended Balance score. See Chapter 6 in the BOT-3 Examiner Manual for details. |
Subtest 7: Strength |
0-50 |
The Strength (ST) subtest measures trunk strength, upper and lower body strength, and endurance. |
Subtest 8: Dynamic Movement |
0-60 |
The Dynamic Movement (DM) subtest assesses running speed and agility. |
The Supplemental tab allows for optional raw score entry (total point score) of two supplemental scores available in the BOT-3 record form. These scores are comprised of items from across the 8 subtests.
Note. Only enter total point scores for Planning and Coordination and Movement Fundamentals if total point scores are entered for other subtests. Do not enter total point scores if item point scores are entered for the items that contribute to the supplemental score.

Description |
Planning and Coordination |
0-94 |
The Planning and Coordination supplemental score provides a summary score of 15 items across the test that specifically relate to issues with planning and motor coordination. This score can help identify clinical populations with challenges related to praxis and motor planning to allow for better documentation of these specific motor domains. |
Movement Fundamentals | 0-62 |
The Movement Fundamentals supplemental score is composed of 13 items in the Upper-Limb Coordination, Bilateral Coordination, Balance, Strength, and Dynamic Movement subtests. It is a criterion-referenced score of an examinee’s level of proficiency in fundamental movement skills that are considered the building blocks for more complex movements required to participate in play, sports, and many recreational activities. |
All responses are optional.
Omitting all subtest and supplemental scores creates an invalid assessment.
The age of the examinee will be calculated against the Assessment Date and validated that it is within the age range for the BOT-3: ages 4:0–25:11. Out of age range testing is allowed for ages 26:0–39:11 and a warning is presented at reporting.
If the Back link is clicked without saving the record, a message will appear to confirm the navigation and ask whether the user would like to stay on the page.
Clicking Save updates saves the record.
When data entry is complete, select Proceed to Reports to save the record and generate a report.
When the record is saved, the system checks to ensure all the required data has been entered. If any data needed for scoring is missing or invalid, error messages and/or warnings will be displayed in the Overview tab. The Overview tab will be marked with a red flag when errors or warnings are present. The record will be saved with a status of “Needs Editing” when errors or warnings are present. Once the error condition is corrected, the error message and flag will be removed the next time the record is saved.
